Frequently Asked Questions

Have a Question?

  • Where are TowRite Towbars produced?

Our TowRite Towbars are entirely manufactured with precision and care in Brisbane, Australia. This local production ensures we maintain high-quality control standards and contribute to the local economy by providing jobs. By producing our towbars in Brisbane, we can closely monitor each stage of the manufacturing process, ensuring that each towbar meets our stringent quality criteria before it reaches you, the customer.

  • What kind of warranty comes with a TowRite Towbar?

When you purchase a TowRite Towbar, you’re investing in a product that comes with a Lifetime warranty valid across the entirety of Australia. This comprehensive warranty signifies our confidence in the durability and quality of our towbars. It covers any defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. Our Lifetime warranty is a testament to our commitment to customer satisfaction and product reliability. Rest assured, with a TowRite Towbar, you’re not just buying a piece of equipment; you’re also securing peace of mind for the life of your towbar.

  • Why are TowRite Towbars powder-coated?

Given the unique and sometimes harsh weather conditions in Australia, known for its propensity towards rust and corrosion, TowRite Towbars undergoes a meticulous 3-stage powder-coating process. This process is designed to offer maximum protection against the elements. It starts with an E prime coat that lays down a solid foundation to prevent rust. Following this, the towbar is powder-coated to ensure it’s not only resistant to corrosion but also to maintain its aesthetic appeal over time. This level of detailed attention in our coating process means our towbars are equipped to handle anything the Australian climate throws their way, ensuring longevity and durability.

  • Do TowRite Towbars meet Australian safety standards?

Yes, every TowRite Towbar is meticulously engineered and subjected to comprehensive testing to ensure they not only meet but exceed the requirements of the ADR62 standards, which are the Australian regulations governing the design, construction, and performance of towbars. Our commitment to adhering to these standards means that you can trust a TowRite Towbar to offer both exceptional performance and unmatched safety. Whether you’re towing a trailer for work, heading out on a caravan holiday, or hauling bikes for a weekend adventure, you can be confident that your TowRite Towbar is up for the task, maintaining safety and integrity even under demanding conditions.

  • Will installing an aftermarket Towbar affect my vehicle’s warranty?

No, installing an aftermarket Towbar does not invalidate your vehicle’s warranty. It’s a common misconception usually stated by vehicle salespeople. However, it’s important to adhere to your vehicle’s recommended towing capacity. Any issues arising due to a fault in our Towbar, provided you’ve followed capacity recommendations, will be covered by our Lifetime Warranty as long as you own the vehicle.

  • How do I find out my vehicle's towing capacity?

Your vehicle’s towing capacity, including trailer weight capacity and trailer ball weight capacity, is detailed in your vehicle handbook under the towing section. Additionally, every TowRite Towbar has a compliance plate indicating its maximum tow rating and Towbar ball weight capacity. We advise checking your vehicle’s handbook for specifics relating to your model.

  • How is tow ball weight measured?

Tow ball weight is the pressure exerted at the front end of the trailer and should be around 10 percent of your total trailer weight. This can be measured using tow ball weight scales or at a weighbridge by placing only the jockey wheel on the scale.

  • Is it necessary to keep the trailer ball mount in the hitch receiver when not towing?

While not towing, the trailer ball mount can remain in the hitch receiver, provided it doesn’t cover the license plate. To prevent theft, consider using a Hitch Pin Lock instead of the standard pin and clip, or remove the mount to store it safely, using a hitch box cover to protect and clean the Towbar area.

  • Do I need to modify my vehicle's suspension for towing?

When towing, the trailer’s weight on the tow ball is supported by the vehicle’s rear suspension. This weight can be evenly distributed across all wheels using a weight distribution hitch, restoring the vehicle to its standard height. However, if carrying a constant heavy load or fitting accessories that add weight, you may need higher rated springs to support the added weight. While this won’t shift weight away from the axle, it will enhance load support. For optimal control and safety, it’s essential to distribute tow ball weight correctly to avoid overloading the vehicle’s rear axle.

At Towrite, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of towbar manufacturing in Australia, where excellence meets innovation.
